"News Sources" Blog Post #1

Due to the advancement of technology there are so many places where we can get our news from. As someone who tends to follow the news daily, it was easy to be able to name my top five new sources and why they are my go to's. 

1. For as long as I can remember, I have always gotten my news from CNN. They report not only on news that is happening within the United States but also in the world. As I have gotten older, I have also been able to see how CNN correlates with my own political ideology and why this would impact why I turn to them for news. However, that would be why I choose CNN because of where they fall on the timeline of each news outlet based on party and ideology. Although CNN tends to lean left, they have also tried to maintain closer to the moderate side of the spectrum. This helps me receive news that I believe is non-partisan based. 

2. NBC4 Washington was my first ever discovery to the news. Growing up this news channel covered, Washington DC News, Maryland News, Virginia News, Local News, Weather, Traffic, Entertainment, Breaking New. I would get up every morning around 6am and watch Chuck Bell, the meteorologist for NBC4 because I used to want to be a meteorologist just like him. Now that I am in college, I like to check in with NBC4 because it makes me feel as though I am still connected to home. 

3.  Due to the way that Twitter functions by having different columns in its search section. It has become one of the quickest ways I can check my phone for breaking news stories. Roughly seven-in-ten U.S. Twitter users (69%) say they get news on the site. One of my most memorable moments on Twitter was the day that Kobe Bryant died. I will never forget this day because I found out on Twitter. In fact when it was confirmed that Kobe had actually died, all of twitter crashed and you could not search or look anything up. It was because so many people were coming to one app to get their news.

4. Apple News is where I get my news from every morning. Due to the fact that all my products are Apple products, it comes with my phone and my I Pad. What I love about Apple News is just how accessible it is to everyone. I get a notification that is called, "5 Things That You Should Know" this may cover news that happened while I was sleeping as well as important things that I should be aware of. 

5. Finally, I get my news from ESPN. Being an athlete for all of my life I like to stay up to date with what is happening in sports. Particularly soccer and what is happening in leagues such as the National Women's Soccer League or Major League Soccer. However, it is also important to note that ESPN covers sports news that happens all over the world! This way I am able to follow my favorite futból teams such as Barcelona and Manchester City.
